Archie, an emotive four-part bio-drama, follows the story of Cary Grant through no fewer than five phases of his life, from his troubled youth in Bristol through to the height of his Hollywood fame.
Written by Jeff Pope (Philomena, Stan and Ollie) and starring Jason Isaacs, Kara Tointon, Harriet Walter and Laura Aikman the series doesn’t offer a linear account of Grant’s life, but instead cuts continuously between his humble English beginnings and later Hollywood success. There is no definitive break with his past. Young Archie, carrying memories of material and emotional deprivation in England, remains with the older Grant as he lives a more glamorous, alternative life in the US. It’s a compelling tale.
We were delighted to be commissioned as sole VFX provider on the series, providing a variety of shots including set extensions, crowd simulations, multiplication, CGI period assets and recreating the plane scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest.
