We worked with Arrow Media to produce VFX and CG animated sequences for Nat Geo Wild’s new Natural History Series; Animal Fight Night . The 3 x 60 minute series features battles between some of the animal kingdom’s most ferocious and often surprisingly vicious creatures.
The series explores why animals of the same species fight one another and incorporates visual techniques such as slow motion, freeze frames, zooms and time slices. We designed and created a CG ‘blue-world’ environment that the footage cut to during the zoom and time slices of each battle. This blue-world enabled the narrative of the series to further explain the internal and external physiological effects these battles have on each of the animals featured and involved extensive 3D modelling and animation for each animal.
As well as the blue world effects we created a title sequence and tracked & composited text and iconography graphics over the filmed footage of the animals to further highlight their defensive and offensive physical characteristics.
The first instalment of the series debuts in the US on Sunday 6th October and will air internationally in December.Take a look at a few of the VFX shots we created in the accompanying reel and for more information on the show check out the Nat Geo Wild site: Animal Fight Night
